So Deer Sewing Bag is worked using a Japanese mending techniqiue called Boro and Stitchery.

Boro is the name for the traditional Japanese textiles that have been mended or patched together. The term is derived from Japanese "boroboro" mening something tattered or repaired...

The Boro can be machined stitched (pic 2) or hand worked in Perle 8 yarn...

This Kit includes:
1 Pattern including pre-printed hanky linen
12" square weaveline (a lightweight, woven fabric stabiliser)
1 skein Cottage Garden Threads in your choice of colour: 707 Burgundy Bark, 804 Thyme or 414 Cobblestone for stitchery
1 Scrap Bag of Rosalies gorgeous cotton/linen fabrics weight 75g or approx 50 cm (2 x fat 1/4) for Boro
1 Fat 1/4 for bag lining
40 cm/15" Parlan or thin fusible batting
